EA Paid NINJA $1 Million to Promote Apex Legends?

Ninja Playing Apex Legends, Organically…

And all this time, I thought it was organic…smh.

After Apex Legends launched, Respawn Entertainment tweeted day after day about how many people were playing it. Like it was organic love, for a new Battle Royale game.

Needless to say, it was all nonsense. Apex Legends was guerilla marketed via EA thru streamers and influencers. And EA paid handsomely to do it, per Reuters.

I am not saying Apex Legends is not a good game. What I am saying is the gaming ecosystem was manipulated, to make it seem like this game was some organic watershed moment, so that impressionable people thought they had to be a part off it.

It’s also hilarious, that not too long ago, game developers hated YouTubers and streamers, but they now realize the best way to market their games, is to have influencers play it…”No, no, we always loved you guys!” – Devs, probably.

And Respawn telling the world, EA had nothing to do with the development of Apex Legends. What about the marketing money paid to influencers? That must be a different line of accounting…

I am not above or against paying for promotion, but on that press tour, they should’ve stated that they have influencers out there on the payroll. So, everything is above board. They would’ve gotten the same results, and it would’ve been cleaner.

But, who am I kidding? Most people do not care about whether or not a gamer’s opinion is bought or sold. Just play the game and entertain us.
